About this coloring page
This intricate fantasy coloring page features a beautiful mermaid princess resting in front of a majestic underwater castle. The scene is rich with detail, including arched architecture, schools of tropical fish, and flowing sea plants that frame the composition. The thin, delicate linework offers a sophisticated challenge for older kids and adults who enjoy precision. With elements like scale patterns, beaded jewelry, and ornate coral, this page is ideal for a rainy afternoon or a quiet classroom activity for advanced artists. It provides a wonderful opportunity to experiment with gradients and shimmering color palettes to bring the magical ocean depths to life.
How to color this page
- Use a fine-liner or gel pen to fill in the tiny decorative beads and jewelry details on the mermaid.
- Try a stippling technique with your colored pencils to create a textured look on the coral and sandy bottom.
- Apply light blue or teal washes around the bubbles and arches to create a realistic sense of depth in the water.
- Layer different shades of green and purple on the mermaid's tail to make the individual scales appear iridescent.
Who is this page for?
This printable coloring page is made for the Master Artist age group. Younger children can color the large shapes first and add the small details later — there is no wrong way to color it.
What you need
A printer, a sheet of A4 or US Letter paper and your favourite crayons, coloured pencils or markers. Thicker paper (120 gsm or more) works best with felt tip pens so the colours do not bleed through.
